We are pleased to announce that Georgian has invested in Eon, participating in its $300 million Series D financing at a $4 billion valuation. We are partnering with lead investor Elad Gil of Gil Capital and existing backers Sequoia, Lightspeed, Greenoaks, and BOND Capital to support the company as it seeks to redefine enterprise data infrastructure for backup, data lakes and AI.
Eon is an intelligent cloud data platform that turns enterprise backup infrastructure into a governed, queryable, AI-ready copy of a company's key data. Eon’s technology provides automated, scalable and recovery solutions that minimize downtime and operational risk. Eon integrates natively across Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Azure.
Market Opportunity: Modern Cloud Environments Break Traditional Backup and Recovery
Cloud infrastructure spend is increasing with global spend at over $171.8B in August of 2025 and expected by Gartner to reach $1.42T by 2029, with 10-30% spent on backups. We believe infrastructure spending increases signal that cloud infrastructure remains one of enterprises’ biggest priorities and highest costs driven by compliance, continuity and ransomware risk. Cloud environments can be harder to protect because data is changing and growing across various services and storage systems. Traditional backup and recovery solutions were not designed for the current level of data complexity. Most traditional solutions depend on general-purpose snapshots – simple copies of data that lack context and granularity. As a result, when recovery is needed, rehydrating one file can require restoring everything, turning routine incidents into manual, expensive, multi-day processes.
The result is a growing gap between “having backup data” and being able to actually use and restore what matters quickly, creating what we believe is an expanding opportunity for cloud-native precision. Eon is targeting this gap with a more granular, cloud-native approach to data protection and recovery.
Why Eon?
Our investment thesis is grounded in Eon’s validated economic impact to its customers, its commercial velocity, and category-defining team.
- Validated ROI and Technical Moat: Eon’s platform ingests cloud data sources and indexes data the moment it is backed up, making data available under one single pane of glass. The Eon approach turns backup data into active data lakes where users can search, query and analyze data without needing to move, copy or transform it in expensive data storage tiers. Eon’s platform is designed to make data recovery granular and fast. Eon’s customers report material cost saving; Eon shared in November 2025 that they reduce cloud storage costs for customers by up to 50%. Furthermore, Eon’s infrastructure allows companies to use its data backups for analytics, compliance checks and AI training without any ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) or hidden costs.
- Commercial Traction: The response to Eon’s platform has been strong, with customers describing it as a “game-changer” that delivers materially more capability at a lower cost than legacy alternatives. Eon’s commercial momentum has enabled the company to more than triple its revenue in the past year, with the company now serving several dozen large enterprise customers, including highly regulated organizations such as SoFi. We believe this early adoption by sophisticated enterprises signals Eon’s ability to replace legacy incumbents at scale.
- A Team with Proven Experience: Enterprise data protection and storage is a hard problem that we believe requires a team that understands the history of data backup and are able to use this experience to rebuild backup for what comes next. Enter Eon CEO & co-founder Ofir Ehrlich and President & co-founder Gonen Stein, who were part of the CloudEndure founding team, a disaster recovery startup acquired by AWS in 2019. Together with Eon’s CTO & co-founder, Ron Kimchi, they led AWS’s migration and disaster recovery efforts, scaling the business to over $1 billion in revenue and serving some of the world’s most demanding enterprise customers. Eon’s R&D team includes several alumni of Unit 8200, Israel’s elite intelligence corps, allowing them to ensure the platform meets the rigorous security standards of global enterprises.
Looking Ahead
Our partnership with Eon extends beyond capital; Georgian’s AI lab intends to support Eon to accelerate development in the areas of behavioral, context-aware anomaly detection, AI-based policy automation and data classification.
“As both a founder and investor myself, I’ve learned that the best partnerships go beyond the capital and extend to what you can build together,” said Ehrlich, CEO and co-founder of Eon. “We look for partners who can help us bring our technology to solve the challenges faced by leading enterprises who are looking to accelerate their business without worrying that their data infrastructure can’t keep up. Having Georgian’s hands-on team alongside us creates a powerful tailwind.”
We look forward to working with Ofir, Gonen, Ron and the Eon team as they build the default data infrastructure layer for the modern enterprise.
