Georgian has invested in Supabase's $500M Series F at a $10B pre-money valuation, joining a syndicate that includes GIC, Stripe, Accel, Coatue, Felicis, Craft Ventures, Y Combinator, Peak XV and Salesforce Ventures.
Simply put: “vibe coding needs infrastructure. Supabase is trying to provide it.” This opening line in the CNBC exclusive about the funding is a crisp summary of the Supabase mission and a key reason why we invested.
Supabase is an open-source development platform built on Postgres – a free, open-source system for storing and querying structured data – and is used by nearly 10M developers developers and more than 250,000 customers, including over half of the most recent Y Combinator batch and enterprises such as PwC, McDonald's, and GitHub Next. The company is also a co-design partner in both Stripe Projects and Anthropic's Claude plugin directory, in our view, two highly-visible distribution surfaces for the next generation of AI-built software.
"Our user base has more than doubled since the Series E and we've seen a 600% increase in databases year-over-year. Claude Code is the largest contributor since the start of the year. In our view, this creates a category that did not meaningfully exist three years ago: production infrastructure for software that is built by AI, often by people who are not engineers, and that needs to be ready for users from day one. We believe Supabase is well positioned in the production infrastructure category, with a product surface that spans the full backend stack and a Postgres foundation that meets AI-generated code where it already lives. Supabase is seeing this reality play out in its numbers:

Supabase is also extending its platform in directions that broaden the addressable market. Multigres targets enterprise-scale Postgres workloads, and the Supabase team has been clear about the company’s ambition to support analytical workloads alongside transactional ones over time. We believe each of these expansions reinforces Supabase’s core platform thesis and opens up new avenues of growth as AI-native software proliferation continues.
Why We Invested in Supabase
1. AI is changing how software gets built and Supabase is benefiting from that
In our view, we are at a point in which the marginal cost of generating software is approaching zero, and the bottleneck is shifting from authoring code to deploying, securing, and operating it. AI-generated applications need a database, authentication, file storage, and a way to handle real-time data. For many of these applications, the cost or complexity of building infrastructure on a hyperscaler is difficult to justify – which creates a potential opening for a platform that delivers it out of the box.
Supabase aims to be that platform and its partnerships reflect how that position is taking shape in practice. As a co-design partner in the Stripe Projects developer preview, Supabase is embedded in the Stripe CLI workflow that lets developers and AI agents provision services and get working credentials in a single command. Supabase is also integrated in Anthropic's official Claude plugin directory, offering database management, project operations, and development workflows directly through Claude.
Taken together, we believe these integrations place Supabase at the point where AI tools and agents naturally reach for a backend – reducing friction at a moment of high intent. In our view, this is a distribution pattern that compounds with the underlying growth of AI-built software.
2. Supabase is building for the full arc, from prototyping to enterprise scale
A common pattern among developers is to use one set of tools for fast and inexpensive prototyping, then graduate to a hyperscaler for full production to support scale. That migration carries with it financial cost, time and technical risk. Supabase has invested deliberately in removing that pressure point, with the goal of allowing developers to start and stay on Supabase as their applications scale.
The case for staying on Supabase is structural. Once a team builds on Supabase, their schema, authentication policies, storage permissions, real-time subscriptions, and edge functions all live on the Supabase database. We believe that consolidation, built on a Postgres foundation that both developers and AI models already work with natively, creates meaningful switching costs that favour retention over re-platforming, a structural advantage for Supabase
The company recently announced Multigres, a database clustering system for PostgreSQL inspired by Vitess, led by Sugu Sougoumarane, the co-creator of Vitess. Multigres is designed to provide sharding, connection pooling, query routing, and high availability for Postgres databases, keeping enterprise-scale workloads on Supabase rather than forcing a re-platforming exercise as a customer grows. We believe this is a credible architectural response to the challenges devs face when scaling an application in production and helps keep the graduation path inside Supabase.
3. The open-source community is the foundation everything else sits on
Supabase has nearly 10M developers and 100,000+ GitHub stars on a core repository. Achieving these results requires focused commitment to the open source developer community. Paul Copplestone (CEO) and Ant Wilson (CTO) co-founded Supabase in 2020 with a clear thesis: build the open-source alternative to Firebase, on Postgres, with the depth to support production workloads at scale. We believe Supabase has stayed close to that thesis without diluting the developer experience that built the community in the first place. In our view, open-source credibility can not be easily acquired or replicated by a hyperscaler bundling a competing product into a discount package.
Supabase’s developer-first orientation is reflected in how its founders talk about the company. In the words of co-founder and CEO Paul Copplestone: “I work at Supabase because we’re open source. Building for a community of builders is the thing I care most about.” We believe this dev-centric founder conviction is a commercial moat that will help sustain and grow Supabase well into the future.

This financing round is intended to support Supabase's continued investment in its product, in particular the development of Multigres for enterprise-scale workloads Additionally, Supabase plans to deepen integrations within the AI coding ecosystem, and the build-out of Supabase’s team across go-to-market and infrastructure engineering.
